Fall Stewards - "Noxious and Obnoxious Weeds" @ Education and Outreach Center
Welcome to our first “Fall Stewards” program! This program will be geared towards Gallatin County homeschoolers to help kids get outside and learn about science and conservation with hands-on activities! Our first event will be focusing on “Noxious & Obnoxious Weeds” found in Gallatin County. We’ll be learning what Noxious Weeds are, how to identify them, and how weeds become noxious in the first place.
This event will be broken up into TWO AGE GROUPS. From 10 AM – 12 PM our activities will be targeting 2nd-5th graders and we will stay in the Education and Outreach Center. From 1 PM – 3 PM our activities will be targeting 6th graders and above. For this age group we’ll meet in the Education and Outreach Center at 1 PM and will then head out to a public walking trail near Logan to identify noxious weeds and help clean up the area by hand pulling them. Parents will need to be present for the afternoon session to help transport their children. Younger kids are more than welcome to also join the afternoon session and vice versa.
If you plan to attend, PLEASE look up the facebook event on the Gallatin Conservation District page and mark yourself as attending and add a discussion post stating how many kids and which session(s) you will be attending.
